Amanda, a 50-year-old South Lismore resident has a hearing disability and was home alone when the flood waters rapidly rose inside her home. When she tried to call emergency services to be rescued but couldn’t get through and it was hard for her to hear their pre-recorded messages. Amanda was narrowly saved from drowning by her neighbor who found her clinging to the gutters and pulled her onto the roof. Lismore, NSW, Australia, May 2022.
