This 21-year-old Afghan man told Human Rights Watch he broke both wrists during an encounter with Bulgarian authorities on or around November 12, 2021 after crossing into Bulgaria from Turkey. His face has bruising, a black eye, and lacerations that cannot be shown to protect his identity.
