Activists began posting signs with the message “I don’t want to be raped” on walls in Honduras following several brutal acts of violence against female university students in 2018, including the case of Silvia Vanessa Izaguirre, a medical student at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras (UNAH), who resisted an attempted rape when armed men attacked a public bus, and was later murdered.
