Khouaf, in her late 60s, was one of about 200 elderly and sick Yezidis released by ISIS in January 2015 after five months in captivity. “We thought that they would throw us in the river because we are old men and women,” she said. “Someone joked and said, ‘At least we will be eaten by fish instead of dogs.’”
