Illustration of armed soldiers executing civilians near a mosque

As the villagers scattered, some running back towards the village, they found that it was surrounded by the Arakan Army, which gathered one group of civilians and summarily executed them.

“As we were running toward U Hla Hpay through the paddy field, villagers who were some distance behind us were intercepted by a group of Arakan Army, gathered together, and killed near the mosque in Fatailla Para. Rashida Hatu, a woman survivor, was also among these villagers. However, she was able to escape the killing by hiding among the piles of villagers’ dead bodies.”
