  • DITSHWANELO - The Botswana Centre for Human Rights
    Ditshwanelo cooperates with a project called LeGaBiBo (Lesbians, Gays and Bisexuals of Botswana). The project aims to uphold human rights through public forums and meetings, and when needed, provides probono legal representation.

South Africa

  • Lesbian and Gay Equality Project
    Through advocacy, education and litigation, the Lesbian and Gay Equality Project works to achieve full legal and social equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people in South Africa. The Project also houses the only legal advice center on the African continent specifically serving the needs of lesbian and gay people.

  • The Gay and Lesbian Archives of South Africa (GALA)
    GALA contains the history of the lesbian and gay civil rights movement in South Africa since the 1960s. The archives include personal records, letters, scrapbooks and photograph albums. There is also an extensive oral narrative collection of both historical and contemporary material.

Uganda

  • Gay and Lesbian Alliance of Uganda (GALA – Uganda)
  • GALA – Uganda increases the visibility of the LGBT community in Uganda. Its programming and planning provide information on health and social events, aiming to improve the emotional, social, political, educational, and spiritual lives of LGBT Ugandans.

  • The Safra Project
    Based in London, the Safra Project aims to provide research, information, and legal assistance to the LGBT Muslim community. Research projects have focused on Islam and gender, feminism, and LGBT women in Muslim societies.

    IHLIA is one of the leading lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender archives and information centers in Europe.   • International Lesbian and Gay Association Europe (ILGA-Europe)
    ILGA-Europe advocates on behalf of lesbian and gay people within the European Union and Council of Europe. They also maintain relationships with various sexuality rights organizations throughout Europe.

  • European Parliament InterGroup on Gay and Lesbian Rights
    The InterGroup on Gay and Lesbian Rights advocates for LGBT rights in all of the European Union’s governing institutions. The group is made up of Members of the European Parliament, civil servants of European institutions, lobbyists and NGOs who work together around human rights issues pertaining to the LGBT community.

  • Rechtskommittee Lambda
    Rechtskommittee Lambda advocates for the implementation of human rights in Austria’s domestic legislative sphere. Though their website has a small English section, most of it the site is in German.

Belgium

  • Holebifederatie
    Holebifederatie is an umbrella organisation of about 100 groups for lesbian, gay and bisexual teens and adults, and their parents and partners, throughout the Flemish-speaking areas of Belgium. They provide information relating to legal and personal matters, as well as plan parties and events for the LGBT community. Though most of their website is in Flemish, they have a small section for English visitors.

  • The Lesbian and Gay Federation in Germany (LSVD)
    LSVD supports the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community in issues of legal and social discrimination, marginalization and violence, while also aiming to improve the situation of LGBT rights in German society by promoting personal emancipation, greater political and social participation and opportunities for full integration into society. Turkey

  • KAOS GL
    KAOS GL is a group founded in September 1994 with the purpose of bringing Turkey's homosexuals together to struggle against discrimination. The group's underlying philosophy is that liberation of homosexuals will also free heterosexuals. KAOS GL has been publishing the journal KAOS GL (now a quarterly) since it was founded.   • Lambda Istanbul
    Lambda Istanbul was formed by a group of gays and lesbians after the Istanbul city government banned the Christopher Street Day Sexual Liberation Activities scheduled to be held in July 1993. Lambda Istanbul is a collective that works for the liberation of LGBT people in Turkey. Lambda is a pluralist group, open to all people who commit to work in the group actively and regularly.   • Blue Diamond Society
    The Blue Diamond Society is an advocacy and support group working with gay men, men who have sex with men, lesbians, women who have sex with women, transvestites, and other vulnerable populations on issues of sexual health and sexual rights.

  • ACLU Lesbian and Gay Rights Project
    ACLU's Lesbian and Gay Rights Project focuses on five areas: discrimination; family and relationships, including marriage; lesbian and gay teens and young adults; laws which criminalize sexual intimacy; and expression and association. The project provides tactical advice and campaign materials, has negotiated policies relating to domestic partnerships, helps LGBT student groups to be recognized, and challenges laws that criminalize private sexual intimacy.

  • Amnesty International’s OUTfront Program
    OUTfront works within the Amnesty International structure to protect the dignity and rights of LGBT people everywhere. Amnesty uses its network of international activists to confront violations and protect the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. Through letter writing campaigns and direct advocacy, OUTfront draws attention to cases and patterns of abuse.

  • Gay and Lesbian Advocates (GLAD)
    GLAD provides legal, advocacy, and educational services geared to end discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation, HIV status and gender identity and expression. Through GLAD’s network of cooperating attorneys located throughout New England, GLAD provides a wide range of legal service to help clients achieve equal justice under the law for all. GLAD was the lead litigator in Goodridge et. al. v Massachusetts, the historic case which affirmed equality in civil marriage for same-sex couples.
