Photo lying in a field near the bodies of several men killed on April 27 in the village of Meja, near Djakovica (Gjakove). Over 100 ethnic Albanians are estimated to have been summarily executed in the massacre, one of the worst of the Kosovo conflict. Their belongings, including shoes, clothes, lighters, and cigarette boxes, were found scattered about the field nearly two months later. (A description of the events at Meja can be found in Kosovo Human Rights Flash #34.)
