This report was authenticated, researched and written by Ali Dayan Hasan, a researcher in the Asia Division of Human Rights Watch. It is based on Human Rights Watch research in Bangladesh in August 2004 and, interviews conducted and an earlier text written by HLS Advocates for Human Rights/Harvard Human Rights Program in March 2004. The HLS Advocates for Human Rights/Harvard Human Rights Program text has been reviewed and authenticated by Human Rights Watch, including through follow-up interviews in Bangladesh.

The HLS Advocates for Human Rights/Harvard Human Rights Program draft report was researched by the following members of HLS Advocates for Human Rights: Bola Aina, Ronja Bandyopadhyay, Amjad Mahmood Khan, and Jennifer Langlais. Reaz Rahman, Ghulam Rabbi, Pratip Bandyopadhyay, and Sazzad Khandakar helped in translating documents. James Cavallaro, Clinical Director of the Human Rights Program at Harvard Law School, Ronja Bandyopadhyay, Jennifer Langlais and Amjad Mahmood Khan performed on-site research in March 2004 and drafted and edited the HLS draft report.
