The Key to My Neighbor's House
by Elizabeth Neuffer

"Human rights victims had a great friend in Elizabeth Neuffer. Without her, some of their stories would never have been told - stories of human tragedy, but also of hope and justice."

Kenneth Roth
Executive director of Human Rights Watch

Ms. Neuffer was the author of "The Keys to my Neighbor's House," about survivors of the genocides in Rwanda and Bosnia and how they sought justice from United Nations tribunals.

"Human rights victims had a great friend in Elizabeth Neuffer," said Kenneth Roth, executive director of Human Rights Watch. "Without her, some of their stories would never have been told - stories of human tragedy, but also of hope and justice."

In addition to the Balkans and Rwanda, Ms. Neuffer had recently covered important human rights stories in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iraq. As United Nations correspondent for the Boston Globe, she wrote extensively about the new International Criminal Court.

"Elizabeth Neuffer brought a human rights perspective to many complex narratives," said Roth. "We will miss her intellectual integrity and warm friendship."
