    image006

Vehicles waiting to cross at a barrier gate between Qaffin and Barta’a, July 2003. At the time Human Rights Watch visited, it found a line of fifteen vehicles that Israeli soldiers had held up for several hours. Also waiting in the same line were residents of neighboring Barta’a, who had been allowed to leave their village but were then prevented from passing through the gate to return home. © 2003 Miranda Sissons/Human Rights Watch
