Tarek Mahmoud El Sawah, of Bosnian and Egyptian descent, was charged with conspiracy and material support for terrorism for allegedly serving as an Al-Qaeda explosives expert. His charges were dismissed in 2012.

On February 12, 2015, a US government interagency review board cleared Sawah for release

He was transferred to Bosnia and Herzegovina on January 20, 2016. He had been at Guantanamo for nearly 14 years. (Last updated August 9, 2018)
