Kenyans registered to vote in record numbers for the presidential and parliamentary elections on December 27, 2007, the country's first multi-party polls since the 24-year presidency of Daniel Arap Moi ended in 2002. Mwai Kibaki, the incumbent and a former minister in Moi's government, led the Party of National Unity (PNU) and Raila Odinga, a former political prisoner, led the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).  In opinion polls the ODM was widely predicted to prevail.  Turnout was higher than Kenya had ever seen. © 2007 Reuters
