Description: Human Rights Watch is seeking an Office Manager for its 20-person Washington, DC Office. The position reports to the New York based Director of Finance and Administration and will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the DC office, identifying and implementing innovations and improvements in the management of the office, and handling office maintenance and facilities issues including office security, supplies, furniture, landlord relations, and responding to public queries. The DC Office Manager will also be responsible for promoting staff morale and a professional and pleasant work environment for DC-based staff and visitors. The DC Office Manager will be a member of HRW’s global operations network and will play a role in organization-wide operations issues, including areas of organizational management. The HRW Operations team prides itself on its professionalism and on providing the highest levels of responsiveness and service to staff across the organization.  
 
Qualifications: Candidates must be self motivated, extremely well-organized, collegial, and able to function under pressure and handle numerous tasks simultaneously. The successful candidate must be a proven problem-solver, eager to take initiative, prioritize with minimal supervision, and work independently as well as function as a member of a team. The candidate must have solid office/administration experience, demonstrated organizational skills, and excellent computer skills. Outstanding communications skills in both written and oral English are essential. Current U.S. work authorization required for this position.
