Synopsis Program Notes Press and Outreach Viewers Guide Return to Titles Press and Outreach Materials - State of Denial Press Coverage A downloadable press image for State of Denial is located on our Press Page at www.hrw.org/iff/2003/press.html For additional stills from the film, please visit the film's own web site at www.stateofdenial.org/stills01.html And for further press materials, you can visit the film's press page at www.stateofdenial.org/press.html Sample Flyer Here is a flyer that can be used to promote the film. You can type in your date, time, and location at the bottom of the page. It is also very useful to include a web address or phone number for more information. Then, print the flyer on brightly colored paper and post it in high traffic areas! It is extremely effective and efficient to use email as a form of outreach and promotion for the films. One can use the descriptions with links to our website or your own website. Be sure to include all the practical information regarding location, times and tickets in each message. Postcards Postcards can be a useful and inexpensive way to get the word out about your festival around town or on campus. A few sites we suggest where you can design and produce your own postcards using our images and text are: Modern Postcards www.modernpostcard.com; 4over4 www.4over4.com; or CafePress www.cafepress.com where you can also produce other kinds of marketing products for your festival (e.g. T-shirts.) You can choose to print postcards with your whole calendar or just highlights. Either way, be sure to include all the same information regarding location, times and tickets mentioned above. The sites suggested below are useful both for individual film outreach, as well as general promotion of the festival. Tolerance.org www.tolerance.org/maps/human_rights/ Tolerance.org is a web project of the Southern Poverty Law Center, and it encourages people from all walks of life to "fight hate and promote tolerance." You can use the site to search for human rights organizations in your community. GuideStar www.guidestar.org GuideStar is a non-profit database with a free search function available to the public on the web. You can visit this site to find other social justice organizations in your community who might be interested in specific films and the festival. Independent Media Center www.indymedia.org Indymedia is a collective of independent media organizations and hundreds of journalists offering grassroots, non-corporate coverage. If there is a local indymedia branch near you, contact them to get the word out about the festival! National Public Radio (NPR) www.npr.org NPR has more than 680 member stations and many local NPR stations produce programs on film and/or human rights. If you go to the NPR site, you can easily find the stations closest to you and their contact information. If you would like to see a sample press release or need other assistance with publicity, please contact Andrea Holley at holleya@hrw.org |
