Women in Black
(UK Premiere)

Directed by Donna Baillie
Produced in Israel/Palestine/UK, 2002
Running Time: 53m
Format: Video
Genre: Documentary
Distributor Website: www.journeyman.tv

First-time filmmaker Donna Baillie travelled from London to Palestine in December 2001 and April 2002 to document the journey of an extraordinary group of women, the Women in Black. Formed in 1988 by a group of Jewish Israeli women who opposed their government's Occupation of the West Bank and Gaza, the organisation now has over 150 groups holding vigils for peace all around the world. The film follows the London Women in Black-affectionately dubbed "Hell's Grannies" in one British newspaper-as they travel to the West Bank to form a human shield around Palestinian civilians.
