Advocacy Director, Europe and Central Asia Division

Veronika Szente Goldston, Human Rights Watch's advocacy director for Europe and Central Asia, designs and manages the organization's multiple international advocacy initiatives on human rights issues in Europe and Central Asia and develops strategies for effectively shaping human rights policies of influential governments and a variety of institutions and forums, including the European Union, the United Nations, the Council of Europe, and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Before joining Human Rights Watch in 2002, she was the advocacy director of the European Roma Rights Center (ERRC). Szente Goldston, a Swedish national who is fluent in Finnish, Swedish, Hungarian, and French, holds degrees in political science from Uppsala University in Sweden and l'Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (IEP) in France.
