Sierra Leonean Refugee Children Neglected

Background

There are more than 300,000 Sierra Leonean refugees in Guinea, most of whom arrived between February and June 1998. They fled the civil war in Sierra Leone, where Human Rights Watch has documented unspeakable atrocities. The Guinean government estimates that more than 65% of the refugees are children. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is charged with providing assistance and protection for these refugees.
