Press the United States Government to support the plight of Russian orphans

U.S. citizens should write to U.S. government officials, urging them to address conditions in Russia's orphanages in their assistance programs for Russia and in their on-going dialogue with Russian government officials. Specifically, such letters should be directed to:

Urge Vice President Gore to raise concerns about Russian orphanages in the context of his on-going dialogue with Russian officials participating in the dialogue with the Russian Prime Minister, known as the "Gore-Primakov Commission."

Congress
Urge the legislators listed below to:
  • conduct legislative hearings to inform American foreign policy-makers about the neglect, abuse and other detrimental features of the Russian state orphanage system;
  • and provide U.S. funds for alternative programs aimed at improving the lives of abandoned children in the large-scale Russian state institutions.
