Qatar

Qatar upholds a "straight-18" position and played a positive role at the Coalition's Middle East regional conference. The Qatar delegate to the UNGASS preparatory meetings declared that Qatar supported universal observance of the Optional Protocol, although Qatar has not yet signed to date.

Success! On July 25, 2002, Qatar acceded to the optional protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the involvement of children in armed conflicts.
