Child Soldiers Ratification Campaign

Algeria

Algeria apparently relies on compulsory recruitment with the minimum age set at 19. However, there have been reports of child participation in the government-sponsored paramilitary 'Legitimate Defence Groups' and armed opposition groups active in Algeria's civil war. Algeria has ratified ILO Convention 182 but has not yet signed the Optional Protocol.
