Researcher, Middle East and North Africa Division

Rasha Moumneh investigates violations of sexual and bodily rights and autonomy in the Middle East and North Africa region. Before joining Human Rights Watch in 2009, Rasha had been engaged in political work around the rights of women and LGBT people in Lebanon with a number of local organizations. At Human Rights Watch she is working on mainstreaming sexual rights within broader human rights frameworks. She is currently focused on projects on police violence against vulnerable populations in Lebanon, including migrant workers, drug users, LGBT people, and sex workers, as well as police abuse of transgender women in Kuwait.

Rasha holds a Master’s degree in anthropology from University College London.
