Sri Lanka was brought up by Human Rights Watch in the third session of the UN Human Rights Council. Armed conflict between Sri Lankan government security and proxy forces and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has continued to result in deaths, displacement, and injuries. As part of the fourth session, Human Rights Watch has urged members of the council to place UN human rights monitors on the ground to document the deteriorating situation in the country. James Ross, senior legal advisor and part of the team working on Sri Lanka, speaks on it with Dominique Chambless in the Asia Division.
